2026 Sydney East Field Rep Season

Published Fri 23 Jan 2026

Happy New Year from Sydney East Rep Hockey. There's no rest for hockey though!

We have had our Sydney East NSW Representatives and officials busy in January at the Indoor National Championships in Canberra and Goulburn. Our Masters Men and Women will have their Indoor State Championships over the next few weeks, wrapping up the indoor season which started last September.

We are providing some early field season updates, with a lot more information to come over the next month.

Coaching

We are working to appoint coaches as early as possible for the 2026 Field Rep Season.  The commitment dates we are currently aware can be found on our website here, and so we encourage anyone interested in coaching Sydney East Rep Teams (junior or opens) to complete the Expression of Interest as soon as possible to assist with our planning.

U/14 Teams

The U/14 state championships are very early in the season this year, with the boys taking place the week after Easter on 10 - 12 April in Taree. The girls are a few weeks later from 1-3 May in Parkes.

This will necessitate very early trials which will only be for U/14, with other age groups to follow at a later date. We are in the final stages of scheduling exact dates, times and locations but we ask U/14 families to "save the dates" of the weekends of 14/15 February and 21/22 February as the U/14 trials will be across these weekends.

Nomination forms will be available for completion very soon, once exact times, dates and locations are confirmed.

U/14 players selected should expect to be required to train each weekend in March, in order to allow for adequate preparation prior to Easter and bearing in mind the school holidays immediately after Easter.

U/14 Canberra

Due to the large gap between the U/14 State Championships and the Canberra carnival on the June Long weekend,  we have made the decision to have a separate EOI process for U/14 players who wish to play in the Canberra June Long Weekend Carnival. That is, teams selected for State Championships will not automatically carry on to Canberra, but players will have the option of doing so if they are not playing in U/16 state championship teams. This will also allow players who are unavailable for State Championships to play in Canberra (subject to team numbers).

Other age groups

U/12, U/16 and U/18 trials are not yet scheduled and will not be in February, but we will be notifying you well in advance of the dates once confirmed.
