Sydney East Hockey Association (SEHA) is directly affiliated to Hockey NSW and competes at State Championship level. We are seeking the services of coaches who are interested in leading our State Championship Open Teams program.

SEHA has considerable open-aged talent within the Association due to the strength of our member clubs that play at the highest level of the Sydney-wide mens competitions. Our comprehensive junior rep hockey programs and junior clubs also ensure a strong pipeline of talented players.

In order to properly harness this talent and to grow our women mens open hockey programs we are looking to appoint two head coaches, one for the open men and one for the open women program.

The commitment required for this position will include the below:

  • Promoting the open program to relevant club teams and players who are eligible to represent SEHA to secure the highest quality team that can be entered into state championships.
  • Head selector for the program - working with other individuals appointed as selectors to assist you (operating within the SEHA Representative Policy). This will involve being able to attend Sydney Hockey games involving SEHA clubs and SEHA eligible players.
  • Coaching the Sydney East 1 Open team at the NSW Open State Championships on the June long weekend (8-10 June 2024)
  • Supporting any coach appointed to a Sydney East 2 team (should a team to be entered).
  • Arranging and running a training session schedule 

Full administrative support will be provided to the Head coach by the Rep Committee, Additionally, a volunteer team manager will be appointed in the lead-up to the state championships. 

SEHA is committed to the development of coaches within the Association and encourages and supports gaining and improving their level of coaching accreditation.

  • Name and contact details
  • Your relevant coaching experience and hockey background
  • Personal attributes that contribute positively to your coaching
  • Your coaching philosophy
  • Your coaching accreditations (highly regarded)
  • Any availability issues that may impact the duties described
  • Working with children check details (this is a requirement as players under 18 may be selected)

SEHA will negotiate financial compensation commensurate with the role and the skills and experience of the successful applicants.
